My mobile phone bit the bullet last weekend after showing numerous signs of fatigue. I have missed it for keeping in touch with my love but beyond that it has felt very freeing. Drawing August has come to an end and I am left with a mountain of drawings and doodles to finish up, I may have been over ambitious and too prolific this year. I will no doubt have them finished and uploaded onto the site before the New Year. My heads already off on its merry way on numerous tangents, one of these tangents is the twitter art exhibit.
The most exciting thing that is currently happening is the possibility of an old college building in Inverness being transformed into studio spaces. It was always my intention to convert the attic into a studio space but insufficient funds means beyond the insulation and wiring it has not progressed. This would be a nice retreat to create and meet other like minded artists, very exciting.
I am thinking about selling off a lot of my early doodles and drawings, originals not prints. It looks like winter is going to busy here on the site.
Enjoying my time off from the nightly grind and have many thoughts after overdosing on documentaries beforehand. I have no training in art history but like so much in life, if you’re enthusiastic then you will find all manner of treasures. I am currently enamoured with the work of Tamara de Lempicka and Barbara Hepworth.
The weather here has been very mixed but yesterday provided a nice day to catch up a little on the garden. As usual I am avoiding heading into town although I need to venture in at least once for a new pair of work shoes. They have undergone running repairs for several weeks with the aid of superglue; just as well I work the night shift.
Drawing August has started and I am drawing away, enjoying drawing again. It seems that the only time I remember I have a blog is when I am on holiday.
Monday morning and I am a few days into my holidays. It has given me a chance to catch up with the gardening and some car maintenance. My sinuses are still wonky after my trip to Birmingham and my doctor has reassured me it’s just a waiting game until my hearing returns.
The referendum of course has been a hot topic here and will remain so; I won’t delve too deeply into this topic. It is not the result I would have liked but I had talked to many people through work before the vote and it was obvious that the topic of migration had been turned into a fearful, toxic subject. I also admit I never thought people would use this referendum as a protest against all manner of issues. The actual choice was also too simplistic. I really don’t like the uncertainty but we live in democracy so we all have to except the result and move forward, positively. The current shenanigans within the political parties with their respective opportunistic, internal politics are of little interest to me but does show what a shallow pond they all exist in but sadly the media seems more than happy on this tangent.
Since money is too tight to mention I won’t be travelling during my break, lots of walking locally with doodling, photography and I would like to add some more content to the site. I still want to play with paint so will do my best to make that happen.
I am thankful that I am not very active on social sites, on-wards and upwards.
Hi and welcome to my blog, it’s been a while so please be patient as I try to figure what I am going to use this for. My site already has a journal page and yearly pages for quick thoughts ‘quickies’ so I am thinking this site must fill a gap, it might be a very small gap.
It could be a place to share work in progress but I already use Instagram for that, having said that it is now private after mercilessly butchering my followers list. I am so done with social sites.
So whatever I use this site for I will try to make it entertaining, light or then again I might just rant here. I hope you enjoy you enjoy it and visit often. Please feel free to comment unless you’re shady.
