Awake early, Thursday morning and I am pining for nicotine. So after a quick visit to the only shop/filling station in the village I am canoodling with my fix with the mandatory cup of tea. I go back to bed to catch up with world events before slipping into a deep sleep. Awake again, I was going to go for a meander but I am feeling a bit run down and the temperature outside is a bit bitey so I decide to do some laundry and make some soup instead.

As the year comes to an end I like to take stock, see what I have created and enjoyed. I think it gives me some direction starting the New Year and it also hints at what I want to do but not necessary what I should do.  This year I geared myself up to paint but I really didn’t get going and instead fell back into my familiar, comfortable habit of doodling.  I like doodling, it’s not always doodling as I call drawing doodling as well. I find the word enjoyable and carries little importance or weight when compared to drawing. I dabbled with cutting out a series of doodles to make two pieces I was happy with. One was a seascape and the other a vagina which I still need to mount, steady on!

I played a lot more games this year; if you are on steam then do add me if your so inclined. The game ‘The Banner Saga’ has sparked my interest in using my doodles for a game; in fact the whole game would be just one massive doodle. That appealed to me so much I have already made space for it here on the site. No story yet or even a style beyond it being 2D, just lots of enthusiasm. It may even raise a few much needed groats.

As with every post I have done recapping previous years it’s only fitting I should also mention photography.

So no matter how you have spent the past year, I wish you a fun creative new year when it comes.

No real surprise

There comes a time when people are hurting and angry that they must have change. I have been following the American election and I wouldn’t have liked to vote for either candidate but I understand why Trump won and why he had to. Unlike the media and politicians who are really pushing the ‘deeply divided country’ line which also happened here after brexit.

The biggest divide that exists in America is wealth inequality as it does here in the United Kingdom. Beyond their respective views and polices, one represented the status quo and the other, change. I find Trumps views on many/most subjects horrific but for America this is an overdue wake-up call like no other. This election was up for grabs for anyone that was not a career politician; the people have had enough of this generic mould. It may come in two colours and promise much but both have a very familiar taste.

If I was an American I wouldn’t be fearful, I would be excited and hopeful that perhaps this would start a chain of events that would see the democrats and republicans split, fracture and hopefully spawn into new parties and more choice. The days of giant, stagnant monolithic parties are a thing of the past. Political reform often needs an event like this.

Don’t you dare brand or blame the electorate as most that voted want to live; simply existing from day to day is not the American dream. If the politicians don’t understand the how and the why, then I think that is something to fear.

First blog post

Hi and welcome to my blog, it’s been a while so please be patient as I try to figure what I am going to use this for. My site already has a journal page and yearly pages for quick thoughts ‘quickies’ so I am thinking this site must fill a gap, it might be a very small gap.

It could be a place to share work in progress but I already use Instagram for that, having said that it is now private after mercilessly butchering my followers list. I am so done with social sites.

So whatever I use this site for I will try to make it entertaining, light or then again I might just rant here. I hope you enjoy you enjoy it and visit often. Please feel free to comment unless you’re shady.
